Yuning Liu
Congratulations to Yuning Liu, PhD Student in Theatre Studies on winning the Chinese Canadian Historical Society of BC’s Wickberg Prize competition. Since its inception, the Prize has endeavoured to award outstanding research at the undergraduate and graduate levels on topics related to Chinese Canadian history.
Yuning’s area of research is the Beijing/Cantonese opera and its impact on Chinese Canadian history. The committee felt that:
“the potential for your work to build upon the existing literature on Vancouver’s Cantonese opera scene and the influence of theatrical performance on Chinatown/Chinese Canadians is very promising, and we look forward to seeing the results of your study in the future.”
