Current studies: PhD in Theatre studies

Supervisor: Dr. Siyuan (Steven) Liu

Yuting’s research focuses on traditional Asian theatre. She obtained her MA in Drama and Film Studies at Anhui University in China. Her interest began in gender studies in jingju (Beijing opera), and she is now expanding her work with xiqu (Chinese traditional theatre) and Japanese theatre. Her research topics include the modernization of xiqu and kabuki, and the relationship between regional theatre and folk culture. She hopes to explore multiple traditional theatres and the dynamics of how different theatres relate.
