Producer Lara Alameddine is on the red carpet screening her first feature film, Money Monster and producer Lauren Grant has been applauded by women internationally for challenging the Cannes Festival institution by bringing her baby into the festival’s marketplace.

Money Monster is a 2016 American thriller film directed by Jodie Foster; written by Alan Di Fiore, Jim Kouf and Jamie Linden; and produced by UBC Film Production alumna Lara Alameddine – BFA 1999. The film stars George Clooney (who co-produced) as Lee Gates, a TV personality who advises his audience on commerce and Wall Street, and who is forcefully interrogated by Kyle Budwell (Jack O’Connell), a grief-stricken bankrupt viewer who lost his money after a previous tip; the film also stars Julia Roberts, Dominic West, Giancarlo Esposito and Caitriona Balfe.
Principal photography began on February 27, 2015 in New York City. The film was released by Sony Pictures Entertainment through TriStar Pictures on May 13, 2016 and has grossed over $36 million.

Lauren Grant Bio:
The principal of Clique Pictures, Lauren Grant established her company in 2006 to focus on developing feature film and documentary production. In 2011, she won the best live action short drama Genie Award for the residential school musical Savage. The film has screened at over 30 film festivals including Berlinale Forum Expanded, BFI London Film Festival, SXSW and the NYC Children’s Film Festival.
Lauren’s previous documentary work includes A Window Looking In, which featured artists such as singer Sarah McLachlan, painter Shawn Hunt and writer William Gibson. She has also worked on television projects Eat St. for The Food Network/Cooking Channel and the broadcast documentaries Reservation Soldiers, Breaking Ranks and Girl Racers.
Lauren’s previous short film credits include co-directing, producing and editing the short documentary 24 Hours, producing and editing Tomorrow Doesn’t Look Good Either, producing and editing The Night Before, producing the CFC 35 mm drama Parkdale and co-producing the short Gravity Boy. Lauren has also worked as a festival consultant and coordinator on numerous short films including Troy Nixey’s Latchkey’s Lament.
Lauren has been selected to attend the CFC North South Marketplace at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Previous festival activity includes attending the Banff Media Festival on a CTV Fellowship (2009) and Women in Film Scholarship (2011) as well as attending the 2011 Rotterdam Lab and Berlinale Talent Campus. Lauren holds a Bachelor of Arts from UBC with a double major in Film Production and History and attended the Canadian Film Centre’s Producers Lab.
