Caassandra Szabo graduated from the BFA Acting Program in 2015 and her sister Nicolette, who is two years younger, has one year to go in the Theatre Design and Production program. Focusing on Costume/Prop Design (she did the amazing puppets in last season’s She Kills Monsters), Nicolette is designing the costumes for North Shore Light Opera’s Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim and Cassandra is singing the leading role of the Witch.

Cassandra is thrilled to return to Centennial Theatre with the talented cast of Into the Woods. She is a Vancouver-based actress, singer, emerging director, and a graduate of the UBC BFA Acting Program. Most recently, Cassandra directed Neil Simon’s Rumors for the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s Annual “MedPlay.” Previous acting credits include The Merry Widow (NSLOS), The Laramie Project (Tomo Suru Theatre), Hell of a Girl (Monster Theatre), Triumph of Love, Twelfth Night, Ubu Roi, The King’s Stag, The Love of Three Oranges (Theatre at UBC), and Urinetown (TPRA Theatre). Previous directing credits include No Idea (Co-Director, PATH 8-12) and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Director, TPRA Theatre). Offstage, Cassandra is an incoming English MA student at the University of British Columbia.
Nicolette Szabo
Nicolette Szabo Bio
Nicolette was born and raised in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Her first interest in costume design and construction came from a young age and grew when she began taking textile classes in high school. There, she developed a foundation of sewing skills, as well as started becoming interested in sketching costumes and modern garments. In 2014, she began studying in UBC’s costume shop under the direction of Jodi Jacyk and Jacqueline Firkins. She is now a fourth year BFA Production and Design student specializing in Costumes and Properties. Previous UBC credits: The Arabian Nights (Assistant Costume Design); Love and Information (Assistant Costume Design); Les Belles-Soeurs (Assistant Costume Design); The Crucible (Assistant Costume Design). Future UBC credits include: Goldrausch (Costume Design). Other credits include Costume Design for Dissolve (Shameless Hussy Productions); Into the Woods (NSLOS).
