On January 9, 2015, the Faculty of Arts announced the appointment of Professor Stephen Heatley as Head of the Department of Theatre and Film from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2018.
Dean of Arts, Gage Averill, stated: “At this time, I acknowledge and thank Professor Robert Gardiner for his willingness to step in as Acting Head, his advocacy on behalf of the Department, and his leadership over the past couple of years. During his term, he has helped carry out the recommendations of the recent external review, including curricular changes, and has advanced the Department’s partnership with UBC Opera. I look forward to working with you and with Professor Heatley in the years ahead to build upon the Department’s research and teaching strengths and to expand student enrolments.”
