Sarah’s thoughts on her time at UBC:

“When I was asked to write about my time at UBC, it took me a moment to remember what that was. I had guessed that it just had become a part of me. When I thought harder I realized that that is what it was…learning to allow acting be a part of who I am and not a side thing. I was studying Shakespeare one hour and Biology the next; rolling around on the floor one day and then heading off to the Polish/Serbian Club! Being in a place (a gorgeous one at that-I will always remember learning lines in the Rose Garden), where someone with an incessant curiosity could indulge herself in learning of ALL kinds was my experience doing the BFA program at UBC. I could act and live. Most importantly though, was the care that my teachers took to prepare me for life as an actor. The sacrifices, the focus and work ethic lessons all came out of discussions and friendships with Instructors like Stephen Heatley, Stephen Malloy, Gayle Murphy, Cathy Burnett, and Neil Freeman to name a few. I learned technique, but I had the space to be real with my teachers and with myself and that’s what I needed to fuel my passions for language and acting and to push myself to try.”
