Associate Professor Stephen Malloy is retiring from the University of British Columbia after thirty years of working in the Department of Theatre and Film.
Stephen was the Graduate Advisor for the MFA Directing program and a member of the BFA Acting program. He directed over thirty productions for the department since 1989.
His professional directing and design credits include productions with the National Arts Centre, Coming Attractions Theatre, Magic Owl Theatre, Neworld Theatre and Main Street Theatre.
Malloy was the co-Artistic Director of Main Street Theatre and he was awarded the Jessie Richardson Theatre Award for Best Director for his production of Sam Shepard’s A Lie of the Mind.
Stephen taught acting in the BFA and BA programs at UBC, and directing in the MFA Directing program.
He loved his time in the studio with his students and fellow Theatre artists. He is grateful to his colleagues, students and staff at UBC and to all the artists who have shared their time and their work with him. He is especially thankful for the love and support of his life partner, Linda Fenton, and their daughter, Bronwyn.
He is looking forward to the next rehearsal, and the next….
