Eury Chang
Kudos to Theatre Studies PhD Candidate Eury Chang for publishing in Theatre Research in Canada.
Eury’s first peer-reviewed article has been published in Theatre Research in Canada, Volume 36 / No 2 (Fall 2015), guest edited by Yana Meerzon. The article, “Towards Reconciliation: Immigration in Marty Chan’s The Forbidden Phoenix and David Yee’s lady in the red dress” is based on research which first began during his master’s degree at UBC, and espouses a new theoretical framework based on the relationship and power of theatre to reveal gaps in Canada’s cultural history in order to achieve social justice.
Eury Colin Chang is a PhD student, Teaching Assistant in Theatre Studies at UBC. His research on Asian Canadian Theatre has been funded by SSHRC (Master’s and Doctoral). In 2013, he was awarded the Errol Durbach Graduate Scholarship in Theatre. In addition to his work as a writer/editor in the arts community (Dance Central, 2004-2011; and Ricepaper magazine, 2008-2012) he works as a professional dramaturge for new Canadian theatre and dance, and is currently the Artistic Director of Creative Dominion, an intercultural, interdisciplinary theatre company based in Vancouver. http://creativedominion.ca
