Naked Cinema XI

Friday, April 25, 2025
6:30 pm
Frederic Wood Theatre
Directed by Tom Scholte

Collectively created feature films by Acting and Film Production students.

Students from UBC Theatre and Film Acting and Film Production come together to create something especially audacious: new films developed collectively from scratch and stripped of all cinematic artifice inspired by Lars von Trier’s Dogme 95 Manifesto. Three films will be presented this year:

Gnocchi

Gnocchi serves as a testament to the strength of vulnerability and honesty. Four coworkers find themselves in a bind when they are accidentally locked in their workplace overnight. Their professional masks slip as alcohol, professions of love and brutal honesty are thrown together.

Children of the Keys

There’s a man…with wings?!… And he took the wrong key…When Bee screws up big time during her first shift, it’s up to Shannon, Caleb and Quinn to make it all worse. Violence, mania, paranoia. The moon makes monsters… and so does the night shift at the key store.

DISPLACEMENTjungleMIX.mp4

A vignette of four displaced people living in Vancouver: two estranged sisters from Hong Kong, a DJ from Uganda and his to-be “protégé” from Edmonton.
