As part of the programming around Women of the Fur Trade, join us for a lively introduction to Métis jigging—a vibrant dance tradition that blends Indigenous and European influences. This free workshop begins with a demonstration by V’ni Dansi, a Vancouver-based dance company dedicated to preserving and sharing Métis culture, followed by an opportunity for participants to learn the steps themselves. No experience necessary!

Led by Artistic Director Yvonne Chartrand, V’ni Dansi (“Come and Dance” in Mitchif) is the only company in Canada to teach and perform both traditional Métis and contemporary dance. With a commitment to both preservation and innovation, V’ni Dansi brings the joyful spirit of the Métis people to audiences of all nations.

Presented by UBC Theatre and Film, Touchstone Theatre, V’ni Dansi, and the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts.

Doors open at 4 pm & workshop starts at 4:15 pm.

This workshop is free to attend. Please sign-up to attend to help us plan accordingly.
