Matthew is a writer, composer, and doctoral candidate in Theatre Studies at the University of British Columbia. His doctoral research explores sonic representations of mental distress within the Deaf, Disability, and Mad arts.
As a composer and sound designer, Matthew has presented music at a number of festivals including the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival and the Vancouver International Dance Festival. Some of his recent collaborators include Ace Co Pro, Company 605, Kinesis Somatheatro, Magazinist, and the All Bodies Dance Project.
His writing has been published with Gordon Hill Press, Frog Hollow Press, Anthem Press, Theatre Research in Canada, The Town Crier, Performance Matters, and Sonic Scope.
Matthew lives in Vancouver on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
