Donna Redlick is a Certified Movement Analyst in Laban/ Bartenieff Movement Studies, a Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist (RSME/T), and a somatic-based Dance Artist, Teacher and Choreographer with 30 years of professional experience. Her teaching experience includes teaching for; Laban/Bartenieff and Somatic Studies International, Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, the School of Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University, Main Dance, Vancouver School Board (as an artist in resident Teacher), Westcoast Dance Movement Therapy, and the Vancouver and Burnaby School Boards (as a professional development teacher). She is also the founder of Moving Arts & Somatic Studies (MASS) and works with clients and students supporting them with movement repatterning.
Donna’s approach to movement and dance is through somatics, integrating Laban Movement studies and Bartenieff Fundamentals SM. She holds an MA in Dance Practice (with distinction) from Trinity Laban, London, UK in partnership with Independent Dance London. She founded Donna Redlick Dance in 1993 and since then has choreographed numerous works that have been presented in Canada, the US and the UK. She has also choreographed numerous works for Continuum Dance Company, a community-based company she founded at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in 1998. She was the artistic director of the company for 16 years.
Donna advocates for a body-mind approach to movement and dance. Her work explores the sensing experience, kinesthetic empathy, moving-in-relation and the inter-subjective experience. She is passionate about teaching and enjoys supporting students to reach their full movement potential. She is currently finishing the Infant Development Training Program with Movimiento Atlas (Spain) – a registered Body Mind Centering Program.
