Get ready to kick-start your career with the Telefilm Talent to Watch Program! This initiative offers emerging filmmakers and web series creators a chance to produce their first project with a grant of up to $250,000 ($150,000 for documentaries).

UBC Theatre and Film is once again be a partner institution, making this the perfect opportunity for recent alumni, graduating students, and Creative Writing program graduates to apply. Don’t miss your chance to bring your creative vision to life!

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Come up with a great idea for a feature film or web series

Step 2: Put together a package which contains all the information required in the guidelines and upload it to a file storage service (like OneDrive, Dropbox or Google Drive) and send the link to Sarah Crauder at sarah.crauder@ubc.ca before our internal deadline of Friday, April 14.

Step 3: We’ll review the applications—the UBC panel will choose a shortlist and provide feedback to those films.

Step 4: Use the feedback and revise your application and pitch to make it the best it can be!

Step 5: The UBC panel will again look at the shortlisted films and their improved pitches to pick our final selections. Those will be forwarded on to Telefilm by their submission deadline of May 1.

Step 6: Telefilm will review the submissions from all the partner institutions across the country and pick their final Talent To Watch winners. The winners will get to work making their now-funded films and web series!
