This year, the Department of Theatre and Film is participating in UBC Giving Day for the first time—a university-wide day of giving that brings donors, alumni, and friends together to support the causes they care about most. Our featured initiative is the Film Program and Equipment Fund. The Film Program and Equipment Fund helps Film Production students access essential equipment, bursaries, and festival submission fees so they can produce professional-quality work and gain real-world experience as emerging filmmakers.

Rising equipment costs continue to create barriers for students, and access to up-to-date cameras, editing software and sound gear is critical for hands-on learning in an industry with rapidly evolving technology. Students are telling diverse, urgent, and original stories rooted in creativity, and human connection. Your support ensures these voices are heard at a time when authentic storytelling matters more than ever.
