Gabrielle Berry is a PhD candidate in Cinema and Media studies at UBC. She holds a BA (Honours) in Film and English from Queen’s U niversity\, Ontario\, and an MA in Film Studies from UBC. Her research focu ses on the intersections of Sound\, Deaf and Disability studies\, her disse rtation considering the sonic resonances and frictions of closed captions i n film and media.
Gabrielle is a recipient of the SSHRC and Killam do ctoral awards\, and is a member of the Public Scholars Initiative program a t UBC. Her work has received the Claudia Gorbman Graduate Student Writing A ward\, and appeared in the Music\, Sound and the Moving Image journal.
