Eight members of the Intermediate year of the UBC BFA Acting program have taken it upon themselves to stage Paper SERIES by David Yee and an excerpt from See Bob Run by Daniel MacIvor, as an extracurricular project.
DEC 8-10 | Dorothy Somerset Studio | 7:30PM | Admission by Donation
In their productions of the aforementioned plays all characters – including male characters – will be played by female acting students. Some male characters they have adapted to be female characters, and others they have left as men. Rowan Denis, Sachi Nisbet, Sophia Niewerth, Sarah Jane, Stefanie Michaud, and Cassandra Phillips-Grande each play the lead in one short play in the Paper SERIES, while the others fill supporting roles in each play. Tai Amy Grauman plays the lead in an excerpt from See Bob Run.
The students, with a great deal of help from the Faculty of Theatre and Film, Theatre@UBC!, Soo Min Park, and production students Linda Yang and Elaine Yan, each took on various roles above and beyond their ones as actors to create this final production.
Paper SERIES is a series of monologues that imaginatively explore six lives and their curious connections to something as inconsequential as a piece of paper. See Bob Run follows Bob as she hops from car to car telling her story to unsuspecting drivers as she tries to put her life in the rear-view mirror. Will she make it to her destination? And what will she find when she gets there?
